Iron Maiden is funny

Today, as my baby is nearly 3 months old I thought it would be a good day to introduce her to the musical stylings of Iron Maiden. Well, that might not be entirely true, and it wasn't my thought at all, I was watching the live preformance of Run to the Hills on Comcast's on demand service. It cracked me up not for any obvious reason but here it goes.

Iron Maiden the bady has made a career out of Eddie. Or rather he has come to sybolize the band, most rock fans see eddie and know Iron Madien. Which is good marketing but beyond but nevermind that. Iron Maiden has made a career well beyond the music of dark imagery, associated with heavy metal in general. I like them as a teen and based on the crowed at the bogota concert many teens still do.

Anyway back to what I thought was funny. Hear is a band singing run to the hills. Which is not a feel good warm and fuzzy number. here are the lyrics
White man came across the sea
He brought us pain and misery
He killed our tribes, he killed our creed
He took our game for his own need
We fought him hard we fought him wel
lOut on the plains we gave him hell
But many came too much for cree
Oh will we ever be set free?
Riding through dustclouds and barren wastes
Galloping hard on the plains
Chasing the redskins back to their holes
Fighting them at their own game
Murder for freedom a stab in the back
Women and children and cowards attack
Run to the hills run for your lives
Run to the hills run for your lives

Soldier blue on the barren wastes
Hunting and killing their game
Raping the women and wasting the men
The only good indians are tame
Selling them whisky and taking their gold
Enslaving the young and destroying the old

Run to the hills run for your lives

So there you have it not a cheery number, but It was one of my favorite songs for a while as a anger filled teen.

So Back to the funny part, I put this concert on, and they the giant eddie on station with fire and mayhem, explosions and all kinds of groovy things singing a song that well is not light. But the members of the band were grinning from ear to ear. It was kinda fun, to see a band preforming just for the sake of preforming having so much fun.

Anyway, that is all i got, the baby liked it too.
